Maybe because they're usually a group of green wrestlers, so whie the leader gets more exposure and focus which for a green wrestler sucks because it exposes them. The others usually have time to grow and get experience.
That's why pairing veterans with a rookie works so much better, because the veteran gets most of the focus while the rookie just tries to get experience and learn as much he/she can
