whatever he was attempting if it was a worked shoot or vice versa it clearly did not get the results he wanted, people have moved on so either he's gonna sit out for a year and a half which in wrestling time might as well be like 10 years or gonna be set up for the next ppv

Since he is radio silence it's probably a vacation from it being a worked shoot. All these people saying that he isn't liked backstage work perfectly into the character of an arrogant jackass that MJF is. I can see it being like heel version the summer of Punk were Punk is Cena defending the establishment and MJF will be the heel version of Punk.

mjf punk seems like the way to go unless they can somehow mix in jay white and punk into a program

That makes logical sense but doesn't really work in practice. Beating AEWs two biggest faces for the title (especially one that just had to forfeit his yummy redemption run) would make him a mega-heel, but the story of coming back from being benched by your boss to win the world title is pure babyface kino.

I guess it could work if Punk turned heel and went corporate, but I can't see that happening immediately after he returns from injury.
