Since we can't post Mayus anymore I'm going to tell you about my doctor's appointment tomorrow.
Six weeks ago I was on vacation and I think I walked a little bit too much; I was averaging around 14 miles a day, it wasn't too much but after three weeks it all adds up you know. On one of the final days I noticed some weird bruising from the knee down and anytime I put weight on my left leg I had shooting pains down my calf. I still managed to walk 6 miles each day even while injured though, the spirit of Mayu powered me through it.
Saw a doctor when I got back, had an xray, turns out I ruptured muscle fibers in my tibia. Not a completely torn muscle, but almost.
After ten days of rest the bruising has subsided and it feels fine, I'm having a checkup with my doc tomorrow and if he says it's all good then I'm starting a regimen of swimming to ease myself back into physical activity. My goal is to do three minutes of continuous jump rope, but we're worried that might be too much impact so soon and only exacerbate the injury, so I've got resistance bands to help with some basic workouts to regain strength alongside the swimming, then I'll start cycling again, then walking, and eventually running again.
Unexpected injuries can happen to anyone, even if you're fairly active like I am. You don't realize how much you take walking for granted until you can't do it. Look after yourselves, MayuBros.
