However, ask anyone who was around at that time and they'd all tell you Bobby Heenan was the greatest manager of all-time. Yet Bobby never beat Corny once for that award.
Cornette has only ever been over with smarks. His niche is catering to marks and non-fans. That's why ROH sucked under him but SMW worked briefly. The problem is that his name and his booking style are the same: corny. A modern audience needs the occasional wink to the camera to acknowledge the shit is fake because the shit is fake and saying otherwise is insulting their intelligence. Jim's shit would work on the Muppet Show but not a modern wrestling company. Even now, AEW rings the bell during pier-6 brawls after Cornette demanded it from his podcast and it doesn't add to the melee, it's fucking annoying and unnecessary. It serves no purpose except to make more noise. If it was summoning help in a declaration of "Someone get out here and stop this," then it would work but it doesn't so it doesn't.
