Fuck meme ratings. Kurts the greatest American pro wrestler of all time. Nobody has had the career like him besides maybe Brock Lesnar, but Lesnar wasn't an Olympian and he didn't give as much of himself to the business, mostly took what he could get and was selfish, unlike Kurt. His career in TNA will always be underappreciated because it wasn't on WWE's level for some people, but his matches there and in Japan, and his time in WWE all have to be considered and the work he did, I don;t think there's anyone who's done that, maybe someone like Flair. Guys like Kurt Angle are once in a generation.

Do you think Meltzer ever looks back with regret or guilt about not giving out more five star matches to guys like Angle during that period where he was extremely stingy to North American wrestling? I mean there's no way you can reasonably reconcile how he rates matches now with not awarding those previously. How can he honestly look back and say Kurt never had a five-star match while a guy like Cody Rhodes has had multiple?

His favorite match of all time is Savage VS. Warrior at Wrestlemania 7. He's a huge Macho Man mark. Fucking loved his DDP feud in WCW too. Would probably personally rate all of those matches 4 and a half at least.

I'm mostly just surprised he's still alive. It's heartbreaking there's only so much that can be done to alleviate the pain of a man who gave so much of himself for his craft and our entertainment. Hopefully, he won't fall back into the perc again.

it's annoying how we're all forced to listen to Meltzer. not because he's correct or because his journalism is any good, but simply due to the fact that he's done it so long. Imagine telling someone from the 80s that the slam heard around the world was a -4* match. Actually imagine that for a second. Now remember that Hogan-Rock was given the same rating as Wee.L.C of 3*s. It's downright baffling. Meltzer has been absolute POISON for the wrestling industry and whilst people still care about him it will NEVER be popular again.
