>>6314485i live in japan. nowadays it's pretty common to see people without masks, i'd say like 15-20% of the people you see in any decent sized city won't be wearing a mask. but it's not because they're over covid, rather it's because it's summertime and humid as balls
everybody else still adheres to the mask thing pretty strongly, even though the official government line is that you don't HAVE to wear one in public so long as you're not talking or chatting, and even people who don't wear the mask for humidity reasons will put it on if they're in crowded public spaces or if they're talking to somebody else, or even if they're just going into something like a starbucks. there are a small handful of people that are completely over it but they're usually older boomer types and stick out a lot so people avoid them anyway
the only place i see masks permanently off is at my gym.
