He was literally carried by Chris Jericho in 2000-2001 which was the only time fans ever cared about him, and it was simply due to how massively over Y2J was as a babyface back then. Both Austin and Rock feuded with Benoit over the belt and fans didn't care about him, he's not a draw & his in-ring is overrated as the entire point is winning fans over and not boring them, both Eddie (Due to his personal injuries & drug problems to be fair) and Benoit failed as main eventers and aren't capable world champions
