Benoit was a very popular guy in the locker room and was an influencial wrestlers. Some of his best friend's are still in the business today. I don't see why people are discounting his work because WWE bumped him in to a shoot.

probably because he killed his child. he wasnt taking chair shots to the head every week he hardly ever took chair shots. all wrestlers from his era have cte. there's many guys with worse head trauma. and there's boxers out there who actually get hit in the head for a shoot for years, they dont just do a fake headbutt a few times a week. he was 39 and very active, he was nowhere near the point of being demented or severely impaired by his head trauma. he knew what he was doing. he cancelled all his appearances that week and flew halfway across the country to do it. he wasnt at home having dinner one evening and did it randomly. he had no reason to be home that week

Interesting to note that research has shown that a large amount of low level impacts has as much if not more CTE inflicting potential than large impacts.
This is why boxers have far worse cte than MMA fighters on average, the much higher volume of head punches.
