Tarzan Goto is kill? Damn I wasn't aware. His FMW fire match teaming against Sabu/Shiek was my first look into Japanese deathmatches. There was an article in a 1991 or 1992 covering the match where the flames got out of control because they used too much fuel and it was windy. Match got ended early, arena evacuated, some of the guys got burns. Fucking hardcore shit it made me start ordering FMW and IWA Japan tapes not long after.

It looks awesome but apparently sabu, was the first to bail out of the match, said it immediately became extremely hot and the air in the ring was immediately gone. Everyone else got burnt pretty badly too iirc. I think sheik left some of his skin fused to the mat or something as well. I wonder if the puerto rican fire matches were any better. They had a middle ground where they lit balls of fabric soaked in kerosene around the ropes instead of fmw lighting up most of the ropes
