Absolutely. Japanese wrestling, particularly in the 70s 80s, was really fucking popular. Most of them don't care about Chono, though. That guy's a bit too young for the average "Japanese wrestling isn't as good anymore" person. They're more Inoki, Giant Baba, Jumbo Tsuruta, Fujinami, Choshu Riki, etc.

I’ve read many 90’s kids’ post on 5ch reminiscing about nWo Japan and Chono’s charisma and mic skills. It’s hilarious how the western smarks say in-ring skills are the only things that matter but then the fans hate charismaless shitters like Wato, Yoshi, Goto, YOH, SHO, SANADA and love the shit out of guys like Desupe. I read one of post that said he’d sacrifice half of NJPW’s roster for injury-ridden 2005 Chono to come back.
