>>6346033I went to a bunch of shows during those years, but I haven't rewatched any of them since, so who knows what I would think with 2022 eyes. The first year or two's main events with London, AJ and Dragon were good stuff. I haven't rewatched them in years, but I don't think you can really go wrong with the first show main event, Joe/Ki, the 4 way iron man for the title and there was a Doug Williams/Joe match that was good.. Main Event Spectacles was good. The Joe/Punk series were pushed as classics. Final Battle 2003 was good. Morishima's whole reign was pretty good. The Dragon Gate matches were good but completely overhyped since the DG crew did those all the time. Kobashi/Joe was overhyped. The ROH/CZW Cage of Death show was good. I also remember the BJ Whitmer/Jimmy Jacobs matches being good. The Steen/Generico matches were good and I did like some of the Richards/Elgin stuff, but it's been years.
ROH was really special in its first year or two. It really was fresh and had an ECW-esque spirit to it. The TNA took their talent (which was one of the major reasons people hated them online), XPW kicked everyone out of the ECW Arena and the Feinstein stuff happened. TNA then took their 2nd wave of talent and they were probably the first promotion where having TV probably hurt the company more than it helped. Then they got Delirious who was not a good booker and never got fired. NXT did ROH better than ROH did and hurt them a lot then NJPW basically worked ROH by using them to gain a foothold in the US. The Elite leaving/AEW forming was the beginning of the final round for them and then the pandemic finished them.
