Why are modern wrestlers so sloppy? I don't remember matches being so consistently botch filled in older eras.

The birth of "wrestling schools" have been a disaster for the industry due to the amount of shitters that actually manage to not get filtered out of it. Real old-timers knew who to break in and did so on a largely individual basis. Now every little who has-been that has more "years of experience" than actual matches under his belt is carnying marks and shipping them off to whatever podunk promoter he's close with.

Why has no one given the most obvious answer? The real answer is KAYFABE. Back then, there was a lot of emphasis on "not exposing the business." Nowadays that isnt a factor. In those days, a botch could potentially expose everything, whereas now the consequences are much smaller. Yeah, a botch might get you made fun of on social media but thats about it. Kayfabe was very imprtant back in the day and it influenced many things. They need to find some way to bring it back or wrestling will never be great again.
