Who was more popular Rock or Austin?
Austin was indeed a star, but when it came to popularity, Johnson clearly was more "over" with the fans. His pops are unmatched. Arguably the best mic worker in professional wrestling history.

Everything he did got over. Not since Superstar Billy Graham and the Road Warriors did you see so many imitators pop up everywhere. Austin's 1999 is the top year of any main draw of any company at any time but the Rock did headline 10 shows in a row that drew 10k+ fans which is something that no one else has done in 2000 when Austin was out hurt. Then again, not many places book 10 10K+ seaters in a row even when the product is hot. So Austin made more money with merch sales, gates and shit but the Rock was a monster draw too.
