Punk was over because he has mic skill and because he was pushed to the moon by the WWE at a time when there was basically no main event competition. He beat John Cena five times in PPVs. I'm not sure anyone has done that. WWE have basically booked Punk to be kayfabe on par or even better than Cena, the biggest USA wrestler at the time. He main evented almost every PPV with or without a title. Vince smashed him over. Fuck a jetpack - they strapped rockets to his back. WWE sucks and has been a terrible product for a long while, but AEW fans are fucking retarded if they think somehow someway CM Punk got over because he is a God amongst men. He isn't. He's an average wrestler with a phenomenal promo. He was never, ever a good in-ring worker.
