match is overhyped because Cody is a mark for himself and wrestled injured. it was an average match overall, no one remembers anything about it except for the bruising on Cody. Not a 5 star match, not even better than their Mania match. People just like to sensationalize shit in the moment. WWE will highlight this match whenever Cody is mentioned because 'WOW HE IS SO BRAVE AND TOUGH TO FIGHT THROUGH THE INJURY!" but as I've already said, the match itself was nothing special. Not the worst HIAC but nowhere near one of the best either.
