That's why they made him champ. They didn't want a situation like in the UFC where a fan favorite wins the strap (Shane Carwin, Colby, Porier, Gaethje) but they're not technically not champions. If I was one of those guys it would haunt me forever that I got my big moment winning gold but it's forever tainted with an asterisk.

Tony shouldn't book in general he doesn't have long term experience and he pushes guys who have no future (Yuta Garcia etc)
Imagine how good the show would be if it was booked by an experienced booker and how competitive the shows would be with WWE.

He doesn't even feel like champ, he's been just an upper mid-card guy since he lost the title and all his shit feels skippable. They should have just said fuck it and gave Tanahashi a run because it would have been really different and they could set a different tone with it.

Interim champ is a stupid idea. If a champ gets injured, he vacates the title and a new champ is crowned.

At least pause the Punk title reign. He's literally been injured for 100% of it.
