As a STEM kid in college, you could bet that if you met someone that was a complete fucking retard, they were either a marketing or a business major. 100% this. WWF was unwatchable until 1995. It's not very good by any means these days but it's better than the shit that was put out in 93.

Wrestling as a whole I think is pretty damn strong. There is a lot of bad out there but there's also good stuff. Indy wrestling seems bigger than ever which is a double edged sword, but there are at least options out there. You're not going to like everything, but if you look you will find wrestlers/matches you like and if you don't then you simply don't enjoy wrestling anymore.

I find early 90s to be far more watchable. Especially with 1992 Battle Royale and the like. The characters were way more badass during the early 90s with acts like Razor Ramon. The only reason why I'd agree that the 90s was worse, is in terms of profits & revenue made. WWF & most other wrestling promotions were going bankrupt & damn near all of them did except for WWF due to lucking out with The Rock & Stone Cold. The modern era is the most money that wrestling has ever made, but it's generally due to WWE designing their show towards stock investors. Modern day gaming has the same exact problem. AEW is designed towards fans I guess, but it's a certain type of eternally online internet fan so unless you're part of that crowd, you're not going to understand anything that's considered cool at aew.
