I think there are multiple factors for this. One is that Moxley came in after finishing out his WWE contract at their first show. Second is it allows for AEW and Tony to go with the fed was holding back Moxley in WWE narrative which to some extent is true they didn’t really have plans for him and he was given shit creative. Third is the fact that Tony Khan is a mark for Moxley and has been a mark for Moxley ever since Moxley was world champion in CZW.
