He didn't deliberately go to the ring to kill himself and leave the guy a note. He had apparently been carrying that note with him for his entire career, just in case he died or got paralyzed.

No, he only wrote it about a year or so before he died. He was in terrible shape and wrote it because he knew it would be needed and soon.

The only reason he didn't retire in 2008 was because NOAH lost their TV deal and he thought they would still need him. He was selfless all the way to the end.
