Alot of people still see wrestling fans as uneducated, poor, redneck etc. This obviously isn't the case anymore but stereotypes persist (how many times have you seen someone try to ridicule wrestling for being gay?) Add to that the fact that there are "casuals" that actively shit on wrestling outside of their comfort zone, the weird invisible difference of marks and smarks (its the same thing, if you know enough about some indy wrestler to hate on them, you have become a smark).
