Kek Ibushi doesn't give a shit about money or sports entertainment. He was in wrestling because he genuinely loved it. If he went to WWE it would've been a disaster and he would've had an even bigger meltdown. It's a blessing he lasted in a major company in Japan for so long.

He's one of the only guys who does that style and does it exceptionally well, plus his opponents usually aren't wrestling a similar style so its not like the style really gets a chance to get old compared to strike exchanges or repeated nearfalls (not that those aren't good when done right, which they are more often than not in New Japan). I wish there was a wave of guys pulling off grapplekino like this to counteract the prevalence of flippyshit.

I think Zack's ceiling for the moment is winning the New Japan cup. Maybe he'll make a G1 final but I don't see New Japan putting the belt on him. SANADA's probably closer in line for a run with the title.

I really hope you're wrong, the early part of his G1 run last year where he was collecting wins on everyone before running into the wall called Ishii is probably the most fun I've had watching wrestling since getting back into it in mid-2020.

It's definitely a matchup I'll be excited for every time it comes up.
