The first ever Wrestlemania I got to watch on DVD was this one and I remember being bored as shit of this match lol
I re-watched it a few years ago. It's pretty good, mostly because the crowd was going absolutely bonkers to it at a level that you just can't possibly see happening nowadays. Places like AEW are too indie, with crowds to small to reach these reactions and WWE now has Wrestlemanias in gay places with acoustics that don't allow that kind of stuff. It's a shame.

Hogan wrestled the exact same match his entire career, and lots of people were more into his promo, look and what he represented, than his actual in-ring work. Most of Hogan's matches were the drizzling shits, and he only got that 3.5 because the Rock was involved.

Not that anon and I don't think the match in the OP is incredible, but no, stars are given entirely out of Meltzer's personal preferences.
CM Punk VS MJF got 4.75 stars. Neither of the guys in that match demonstrated great in-ring work or psychology. It was valued highly for the exact same reason that the anti-smarks in this thread are rating Hogan VS Rock highly.
