Commentary is an important part of a wrestling show. I grew up with all the greats and then Michael Cole came along. People like to shit on Cole but you have to understand he was basically a vessel for Vince to deliver lines through. How do you think commentary is going to improve now that Vince is gone?

just let Corey and Pat say whatever they feel like and delete everyone else for now. maybe we should have more recognizable and legendary wrestlers on commentary with actual wrestlers involved in the feud. like if we have drew vs sheamus and they are not needed on ringside butch and holland can be on commentary putting their guy over

SmackDown commentary seems like it's already improved tremendously without Vince yelling in Cole's ear nonstop. No more constant repetition to appease Vinnie Mac's Alzheimer's.
Also, Vic Joseph and Wade Barrett on NX-fucking-T of all places is the best commentary team on national television right now. Fight me.

I think Renallo was fucking good, yeah, he's a geek and sounds like a loser, but isn't that how a commentator is supposed to look/sound?? Someone who actually loves the whole thing, like JR or Joey Styles??? Plus, he had good narrations and catchphrases.

Pat is proof you need a spastic hype guy. The reason commentary seemed like shit before him is because Graves and Cole were boring and sounded bored. Pat marks out for everything so it makes everything seem exciting, that what you need in a color guy. Graves started trying to copy him but comes off as fake.

I don't watch AEW because I'm straight so I don't know theirs. I know Excalibur sucked in pwg though

I don't think Mauro sounds like a loser. He was invested which also helps you as the viewer become invested. Yeah, he had a few cringe moments but I'll let that slide because he actually sounded like he cared and wasn't just a surrogate for some dumb corpo.

Cole has had some good moments but obviously it's overshadowed by him being egregiously used by Vince as a mouthpiece. Him having that tiff with McAfee because he was scared Vince was going to be mad is a very real, understandable thing to me. My boss is also a lunatic like Vince that has a hair trigger but has also taught me a lot about the right way to do things to make him happy.
The question is, will Cole be able to transform into a better commentator and train his proteges better without Vince in his ear? Or will he be so ingrained in doing Vince's way that he'll have to be replaced?
