Sting's nothing. A legend in his own mind. I'll never know why Hogan agreed to work with him in WCW. Savage, Piper and Luger were the real stars Hogan should have been working with. Even Bret Hart, when WCW signed him they should made the Starrcade match Bret vs Hollywood Hogan. fuck sting, he had no business being on top during that period. he had way less star power than every ex-WWF guy in the company. Hacksaw Jim Duggan was a bigger than Sting.

Sting got more deified in the 90s because of ex-WWF talent getting contracts. With the likes of Hogan, Savage, Piper, Hart, Hall, Nash, and even Flair switching out from WWF bookings, Sting gains notoriety as the only non-WWF national name to never talk to Vince while he was in his prime (Flair wasn't even 50 when for the times he did WWF events). For Sting's business, why take the risk of in-ring comparison to the newer WWF superstars when he's guaranteed superstardom outside of WWF booking? At the end of the day, every wrestler has to look out for himself, and Sting played a safe long game instead of a risky short game (look at Bret for risky short game choices).

As for whether Sting compares well with The Rock, Stone Cold, and The Undertaker we just won't know. It's one of those forever what-ifs about wrestling.

I was never much of Sting fan because I watched WWF instead of WCW but even I know he was one of the biggest stars in wrestling at the height of its popularity in the late 90s. He was the main protagonist on WCW's side against the NWO when that storyline was at its peak. Normies knew who Sting was.

Raven is only there only because he was the favorite wrestler of whoever worked at THQ at the time and got to make that decision. Sting is still presented as the main face character in the video game.

the big dream that WCW should have built to was Hogan vs Kevin Nash. when Nash was still Diesel in WWF and Hogan was in WCW that was always the big "what if they wrestled" match any time the magazines would do a fantasy warfare or "computer tournament". instead they blew it on Sting for Starrcade 97. by the time they finally the match it was road wild 1999 and way too late and nobody cared because of the "fingerpoke" angle on nitro months before. that fingerpoke shit was the first time they even booked a Nash vs Hogan match, unbelievable
