Raw hit a good mix of entertaining matches and segments not too long before Mania and it's found a way to be pretty solid over the past year. Vince had a pretty good thing going with the good gimmicks that have been introduced. I just want to be entertained more rather than watching hours of wrestling and commercials. Bring back Zeke. Let Gable do more IQ tests and scooter races. Just let the fun shine through so it doesn't have to be serious all the time. Tonight's episode was exhausting to watch because there was no levity.

WWE has always been the promotion to escape from the workrate matches when you get overexposed or burned out by that style and to just sit back and watch it for trainwreck entertainment purposes. That's why it will always exist and Vince stood above everyone else by not going that route. If I wanted to watch great matches that's the indies or japanese wrestling job. By becoming another workrate company with dull as dirt personalities it homogenize the entire wrestling landscape even further where every company now just feels more or less the same.

I genuinely prefer vince's approach even if he was a senile retard. he understood you needed a mix of everything in order for a show to work. if he was going to have a big workrate match he would balance it with comedy and other angles (even if they were bad). having the entire show this week being matches made it really boring, imo.

pointing out that there was a lack of backstage segments seems like grasping at straws and framing it as a permanent mandate is very sus to me. If balance is an issue would argue that the product lacked severely in-ring stuff, and this week was heavy on it to balance it out and set up a new pace.

Some of the best drawing wrestlers ever weren't really that great in the ring, so it's clear in-ring work really doesn't matter that much. And at the end of the day, all that really matters is drawing money as 5 star matches don't pay the bills. NXT gave fans all the in-ring work they wanted and even the hardest of hardcore smarks refused to watch it.

The average person on the IWC might watch for classic matches, but they are hardcore fans and there's not enough of them. The average person is just hoping their favorites win and maybe wants to see a little mayhem.

Additionally, not every match and situation requires a 5 star match. Sometimes things just need to be squashes. Sometimes you just need to wake the crowd up and sometimes you need to let the crowd take a piss break.

Yep. One of the best examples ever of why the wrestling doesn't matter. That show gave the average smark everything they claimed they wanted. Those smarks thanked Triple H by never watching or discussing the show and never watching NXT UK either, then complaining when they changed the show over to something else. And to top it all off, they then celebrated when half the NXT roster went to AEW to replace all the people who they supposedly liked more.
