I mean fuck I walked backstage with Paul at a show a few years ago, and he was telling me all the guys and their skills. I remember him asking what I thought. Paul goes “Big man, you see any of them working a mania program with me?” I leaned against the wall, looked around and said ‘Well I came here to see a pro wrestlers locker room, and it looks more like a prep school.” Paul kinda got heated. I said look, these guys got Ambercrombie and Fitch model looks, and they’re about as tough as them too. I mean I don’t fault them, that’s the business now. These guys can spend all day on their phone, and having fans send them messages saying they want a private signing. That right there says all you need to know. There’s no reason for them to try anything anymore. I mean they can watch some fucking youtube video with a cool new flip, but they won’t try their luck in some rundown bar in Baltimore. They don’t know adversity like having the belt while business is down and you’re on the road for weeks at a time making checks just large enough to buy groceries for your kids, and the special for yourself at sizzler.
