This was pre-Smackdown so it was the default #2 show. They'd run pre-PPV angles on it as well.

On PPV nights you'd get some crazy angle and/or match to hook you into buying the PPV.

On non-PPV nights it did the same thing but to make you tune into Raw the next night.

RAW was split into 2 hours, RAW and War zone. War zone was when Nitro and RAW went head to head.

pretty sure the first hour was always head to head and so was the second unless wcw ended an hour early for whatever reason. vince just wanted both hours split up for advertising purposes and the second hour (warzone) also had a higher age rating
