If he just beats him after the match, the crowd will cheer. But this way, the crowd goes full "wtf is wrong with this guy??" and just stares in silence.
With this ending, there's no way to use the guy next week. Throwaway match with Ethan Page? Or some local jobber? What do they even do now? There's no story.
Sting with the eye makeup is lame shit. The real story is Darby teasing a heel turn, otherwise he goes back to being irrelevant.
