I got paid about $120 a shot (so $120 for 2 hours of my time).
Working a real job on the week for a cheeky 120 on the weekends is nice.

Mostly this, especially if your trainer is also the promoter and you're green. You're also expected to sell tickets too even if you and everyone you know lives like 2 hours away from the event. Meanwhile, they'll bring in some washed up has-been or even a never was in and pay good money for them to not draw a single new person to the event. Even if you've been wrestling for years and are established as a decent indy worker, I've seen promoters slip them a $20 after they drove over an hour to get there and that was just because they showed up early to help set the ring up.

Most only make between 20-70. If they've been on impact, dark or gcw they'll ask for more. The problem is that most of them are marks that don't value their time and are just happy to wrestle. So when you try and act like a professional and set a standard booking fee that matches your talent level and time invested in gear training, you get passed over for some out of shape mark that will unironically work for his "home promotion" for "respect for the Booker".

I read on some wrestler here saying selling 3 or 4 shirts doubled his paycheck from the bingo hall you normally see him at. Next time I go to an indy show in town I'm buying a shirt or two.

Most bingo hallers just want to perform so its like the people who invest tons of time into doing community theatre for free.

You'd be surprised. I've heard of guys jobbing on dark, then raising their booking minimum by $200. And promoters were paying it too. Until they get to that point though, so many of them work for next to nothing. There's a lot of sloppy shitters out there who aren't worth more than $15, but I've met some really great workers who don't make more than $50 a show.
