The uncomfortable truth that AEW fans don't want to admit about the Hangman/Omega storyline is that it was never over. The only thing that was over was the smug satisfaction the audience felt by being able to "guess" where it was going, hence why they instantly stopped caring once Hangman was champ (even tho some pretended to still care a bit)

The story died when Kenny turned heel. Him returning as a pure no-nonsense wrestler absolutely squashing Sonny Kiss set him up for such a kino run, and then they turned him into a smarmy heel with a smarmy heel mouthpiece and he won the strap in a match that he said quite a few times he had no business being it.
It was just so so so very shit.
