RATING A BOOKER - JIM CORNETTE REPOST

No.6853371 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
This will be primarily focused on SMW because corny had total creative control. I dont know what he booked in 89 WCW. But I will delve into other stuff as well.

CHARACTERS / ROSTER 9/10 - Cornette obviously played himself as the heat drawing heel manager with his stable (and he is a great manager). He had bob orton in there as the babyface commissioner. He had proven ( especially in his territory) but worn draws like the rockin roll express constantly fueding with teams like the heavenly bodies. His main heel champ was tony anthony, who was a pretty good worker and good heel. He had the gangstas which was great btw. Brian lee, Tim horner (lol). Cornette has a good eye for talent too. He brought in guys like jericho and storm, glenn jacobs and bob holly. People like too give him credit for scouting brock, cena, and orton from OVW but that place was a wwf feeder system and where else were they supposed too work stateside? SMW also had a working agreement as a feeder for WWF and corny could bring in SCSA or shawn michaels or whoever too sell some extra tickets. They also had guys coming "in between" jobs from wcw or wwf. SMW had many terrible wrestlers as well like boo bradley or the tru to the crew guy. He could also get amazing vets like bobby eaton or terry funk in there. Various amounts of mullets, beer bellies, and armstrong family members flying around. He even had based commentators like dutch mantell and great refs like mark curtis. Having tons of connections and a good eye for talent he managed too keep a pretty great roster.
