The fact is he wrestles for a major promotion, and the art of wrestling in a TV promotion means creating stories, characters, feuds etc. A big part of that is being motivated to compete for championships and draw money. Danielson is too valuable an asset to be wasted devaluing himself every week losing to Daniel Garcia or Hook or Redbeard just for the sake of a good match everyone forgets about in 3 days
