I feel like it can't be because the dumbest thing Tony Khan could ever do is divide the fanbase to support factions within AEW when they need to be pushing AEW as a united product that is different from WWE.

Everything is a work until you find out is wasn't. The whole wrestling enterprise is built on fooling people into giving a shit about what happens next. Most people know it's all bullshit in front of the camera. Backstage is the only place left they can still work people. Hence the constant soap opera surrounding these companies.
