Jeffrey Nero Hardy was executed via firing squad this morning for a DUI and showing no remorse. Hardy, who was convicted of DUI earlier this year, was sentenced to death last month. He had his final meal last night and was escorted to the execution chamber at 9:00am this morning.

Hardy was stoic as the executioner's squad took aim and fired. He did not say any last words, and showed no emotion as he died. His family did not attend the execution, but released a statement afterwards saying that they hoped Hardy's death would bring them closure.

This is the first execution in the state of Florida in over 3 years, and only the second execution by firing squad in the United States since 2010.
Hardy's actions have permanently left a stain on his legacy.
