AEW storytelling through use of colors

No.6889592 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
When Keith Lee debuted, he wore his signature purple and black gear. While you might think nothing of this, you'd be sadly mistaken, as the significance behind the color choices is massive. Purple is the color of royalty, class and sophistication, all traits that the super intelligent man who wants you to bask in his glory possesses. He is directly telling you what his character is.. without telling you, absolutely remarkable ! However, the dominant color on his trunks is black, meaning that Keith is still trapped by the feeling of being let down by the evil WWE. Even though it's his debut and he feels great, he can't quite let the darkened cloud above his head go.

Lee wore the same colors during his Rampage debut, meaning that even though he's building momentum, the sound of that evil POS Vince McMahon pitching the Bearcat gimmick still rule in his head unfortunately. Poor Keith STILL had to endure and persevere, even at Revolution, but the bright PPV lights turned the corner for Limitless One. He now understands that yes, the Fed really is dead, and new beginnings are in front of him. Some might even say.. SKY is the limit.

Keith wore the purple and black combo one more time, against QTony Marshall, and this is where the impeccable storytelling comes into play. Upon starting to team with Swerve Strickland, Keith switched to purple and light blue trunks ! The symbolism here is absolutely astonishing. While Keith is still a cocky and m'lady smartypants type, now he is feeling loyalty, loyalty to Swerve, loyalty that awful WWE could never show Keith. Keith is now pure and happy, if a little sad even that he is completely letting go of his past, but he understand that he now wields power with this new team.
