AEW is forming it's own style of entertainment. Nobody needs to see 70's pro wrestling in the year 2022. Old guys are retired for a reason. AEW has been getting more stars and appraisal than any other entertainment promotion in history.

It all started with the anti-vet, anti-body guy movement Bret and Shawn started. The guys who worshipped these two, then couldn't get into the WWE monopoly, so they resented it. They hate old school guys and hate body guys just like their idols Bret and Shawn. The ones who could make it, were contained in NXT.

This is the truth. There are two camps. Bret marks and HBK marks. The former like work rate vets, but HATE Hogan, Warrior, Goldberg. The later hate almost all vets, except HBK, Hunter, Muta, and a few others.

It is well documented that they go straight onto Twitter and see all the mega marks tweeting at them (hoping to get liked or replied to by man on tv because they have nothing else in life) and use that as validation to do spotfest shit. Meanwhile actual crowd reaction and interest falls off a cliff.

the best of wrestling isn't so black and white. there's a lot of great shit in the 70s and 80s that many modern wrestlers and promoters can learn from, but there's also a lot of bad shit too to learn from. wrestling has evolved so much in the past few decades but that doesn't mean we can't still apply what worked in the past while also applying what works now. a mix of the best of modern day and classic stuff is ideal
