>>6919477 (OP)>how would someone even go about getting into this promotion in 2022?They have their own VOD service and most of it gets ripped online.
They also have a twitter/facebook, with the twitter being in English. There's a guy named Jae who used to run an English DG site for about 15 years. He was the source for all things DG. He eventually got hired by DG and closed his site and now does English commentary for them, where he explains a lot of stuff. He also has his own twitter where he covers a lot of things going on.
That's about it though. Dragon Gate also doesn't like people posting their gifs on twitter and stuff, which is essentially for growth nowadays.
>its the 2nd largest in japan and no one ever talks about it.Puroresu and wrestling as a whole is dying in the West. I think wrestling lost about half of its audience since 2010.
Beyond that, the whole infrastructure is broken. Nobody makes fan websites anymore. Message boards are dead. And social media sites like reddit, twitter and facebook are terrible for archiving information. Add in the censorship, places like Google/Youtube intentionally destroying their search engines, cancel culture and everyone acting like children, and that era is gone.
I think because there's so much footage to watch nowadays, people are just picking a promotion to watch and not bothering with much else. And while that's cool, I'm extremely concerned that these people are going to move on and all of their information is going to be lost...provided wrestling is even around. And while I'll be around, I can't do it by myself.
BJW, Zero-1, AJPW, DDT (save for their English fansite and generals here) have the same issues.
>no one ever recommends old matches or shows from it even though some well known names used to work thereThe one major problem with Dragon Gate is that because so much of what they do are multi-man tags with overexposed wrestlers, things don't really stick out that much.
