However, this was a less known or less publicized thing in the past and the world wasn't as lawsuit crazy. For example, games like MGS used the likeness of famous stars for the characters, other games blatantly stole things like music. They could have been sued and fucked over, but it was never really known outside of gamers. In this case, the news can easily become spread on social media, etc... or directly mailed to the WWE who can choose to sue. Given that Tony just threatened them about tampering, WWE could fire back threatening or even suing for this if they wanted. They probably don't want to open the doors for legal battles and people digging up shit about them right now so they would be inclined to refrain, however.
