It’s flawed because storytelling and the buildup to a match and the ambiance behind it is completely disregarded. How in the fuck am I supposed to honestly rate osperay matches close to something like taker vs shawn’s hell in a cell match, when that one had the perfect buildup, the perfect actual ring work, perfect ending, and felt like a big deal. The matches he rates 5 starts don’t have that importance or weight to them that a 5 star match should have. Maybe the work rate is there, but everything else is painfully lacking. I think the only matches I agree with meltzer on are shibata vs okada, one of the kenny vs okada matches before they just started trying to outdo themselves, and the tanahashi vs okada match where okada leaves crying over the loss. Everything else is not 5 stars. Don’t even get me started on all the aew matches he gives perfect ratings too because they were all dogshit goyslop.
