Muta, like most New Japan maineventers before Tanahashi, lacks a strong body of work.

Most of his stuff in JCP is really good, but the same can be said for Lex Luger and Nikita Koloff. Working with nothing but GOATs will do that for you.

In New Japan it pretty much took Hase to carry him to anything worth seeing. And there's a fan cam of a match with Vader that was surprisingly good.

I'm sure there's some AJPW matches right after he came in that are entertaining for the novelty of it. But by the time he went back to New Japan he's knees were gone and if they shaved 10+ minutes off his matches they might be worth watching just to see how many spots he can do from a seated position cause he was just done standing.

The NOAH run is painful, only watch if you are a bad person who likes seeing people suffer.

If you're interested in getting into older Japanese wrestling I would suggest mid to late 2000s NOAH. and then to jump back to 87 All Japan and work your way back up to the NOAH split. And then watch AJW from the Crush Gals to around 1998. And if you still want to watch 90s New Japan beyond the juniors, just go with Hashimoto.

Ive only seen one match from this and its a top 5 all timer for me in Kobashi vs Sasaki
I have a hard time going into older jap matches when i dont know whats going on, is there any way to get around this or do I just have to go in and watch a bunch of matches that im probably not gonna enjoy bc i cant get into them in order to find the good stuff?
