He's not wrong. Today's entrance music sounds as generic as the music industry today. Part of a superstar is hearing that theme song in the area and popping for it. You just don't get that feel anymore.

I think the problem is a lack of recognizable licensed music. Pat would have got a big reaction at mania no mater what, but coming out to 7 nation army made it 10x bigger because it was a song that the whole crowd knew. A better example would me Sandman in ECW. One Metallica song ( a few good promos and a stick) turned a 7-11 lurking, chain smoking, alcoholic into a genuine draw

He's right about the entrance themes being mediocre but wrong about it being a major driving reason for wrestlers not getting over. Keep in mind that wrestlers got over just fine without entrance music if you go back far enough. Still though a good theme definitely helps enhance the wrestler's presentation and take them to the next level. The current batch of theme songs are usually soulless 30 second loops thrown together by borderline amateurs. Jim Johnston was a proper composer the likes of which we're probably not going to see in wrestling again any time soon. I don't know what the fuck WWE were thinking firing the guy. If I was Tony Khan I would have hired him instead of bloating the roster with a bunch of ex WWE shitters.

Johnston was good but by the late 00s a lot of his songs were pretty bad. There was only the occasional standout like Corbin by the end.
CFO was okay, they made Seff's old theme, Nakamura's, Sami, Asuka, Owens. Roode etc. def rebel is the drizzling shit though. Nothing memorable.

That would be actual carney fairground shows, witch is a completely different wrestling than anything after the 80s. All the marks back then needed to have a good time was a corn dog and 2 massive retards shoot beating the shit out of each other. There was no need for theme songs or pyro.

Entrance music is one of the few things AEW does particularly well though. Jericho's entrance music is still one of the most over things on the show after 3 years, plus you have the licensed songs for guys like OC and Punk, and the Rukus themes like Ricky Starks and FTR

Nah he's spot on. It's literally the first impression you make when you enter the arena, as is the rest of your entrance. You come out to some generic song that doesn't stand out or get the people hyped up you look like just another dude on the show
