What was the company they build? Basically their own little playground where they made themselves champs without any regard to what actually was selling and downright refusing to play with other people the owner bought in which in turn made their own little circles and jerked inside them.
That's a big circle jerk with multiple separate circles jerking each other off and having their own little title scenes. It was and still is an incoherent mess with too many belts and champs that might as well be 3 separate shows in the time slot for all the interacting they have together.
Then they, Kenny in particular recently, go on about how this is all wrestling, all the comedy wrestling, spot monkeying and blood matches are just a buffet that you can enjoy and refuses to see that they are putting chicken, fish, peanuts, vegan shit and meat on the same plate and saying its fit for everyone.
Phil coming in the show with the mindset of making money and at least trying to make the show better to maximize that income probably opened Tony's eyes that the buffet had rotten shit in it. Unfortunately that also means he, the lefty cunt that he is, has now got Tony by the short hairs and is indeed actively trying to run the show - hell, he might even aim to be Triple HHH of AEW soon, his active career is seeing the dusk anyway.
Point is, TLDR, What they had was mediocre and their solution, going under Child Murder Punks thumb is a mediocre patch that won't really fix the issues, but probably for the best for AEW.
