>>7140972Its been around for so long, its engrained into the culture. Its very very pro-Mexico; they have military parades during shows, you hear the country's name spoken with jubilance in the commentary and the mask itself is as Mexico as the bull fighter or the mariachi. There's an arena in Mexico dedicated SOLEY to lucha libre wrestling, the only one in the world.
In America, wrestling gets associated with low level working class people and rednecks and hillbillies. That, and the main company that makes the most noise dominates the landscape and its content has been hit and miss and mired by steroids and other catastrophes in the public conciousness. There's so much more to it than that, of course, but that's one way to look at. Wrestling had its stsrt in Europe but it is as American as apple pie and a great vent for pent up aggression during peace time. Like most understood arts, its always in hindsight do people realize its brilliance. You get a pro wrestling company that is as pro-American with its content and presentation as CMLL and people will flock to it. Put the red white and blue stsrs ans bars everywhere and get excited for both the nation and wrestling and dimes will flow and its popularity will soar.
Wrestling can be like horror movies ebbing and flowing in popularity; never dying, just goes to sleep.
