Punk gets to retain for now, since we JUST did an interim gimmick with him. But have him 'suspended' or even 'fired' until he's healed up. Then he makes a surprise return in Chicago where FTR turns on Wardlow and Punk becomes the leader of this new face faction.
Punk then goes on to beat the champ (MJF) 2 weeks later in a Chicago Street Fight where the people put their bodies on the line to stop Maxtribution from interfering with the match. Stokely manages to get pass the blockade and is about to hit Punk with a briefcase when Jade Cargill comes out. She chews Stokely out and saves Punk, only to kick him in the balls. Max hits Punk with the briefcase and pins him.
Punk kicks out.
He spanks Jade and then throws her out. He hits Stokely with the GTS, Then taps out MJF with a Sharpshooter to become the NEW AEW champion.
Cut to later. In those quiet moments when he thinks no one else is watching. When it's just him and Tony Khan, he makes Tony watch as he wanks Tony's Belgium Malamute off and all Tony could do in the moment is smile and nod his head in agreement while Punk tells the malamute what a good boy he is.
