Receipt is carny wrestling slang. Usually referred to when a guy works stiff so his opponent stiffs him back as a receipt, to make him stop working stiff. Great, somewhat recent example is the Braun/Brock confrontation in the Rumble match.

I think Hangman's interview about not listening to the veterans rubbed Punk the wrong way. Maybe Punk gave Hangman a lecture in that sit down and felt Hangman's comment was a shot at him. Maybe it was a shot, maybe not, either way Punk stewed on it for months and then called out Hangman knowing nothing would happen.

No it was that he didn't want to take advice from PUNK. That's what Punk was crying about.

Hangman was trained by Jimmy Valiant FFS. He respects the old timers, just not Punk. Punk feels he's owed respect by default.

This was going way above and beyond just getting a reciept too. A reciept would have been him taking a jab at Hangman in the same vein that Hangman took a jab at him. There was no real "sit down" between Punk and Page after Page went off-script ordered by Tony. Tony let the whole thing slide because Punk was getting the world title and let the proverbial baby have his bottle in terms of letting Hangman shit on Punk on live TV like he did.

Which is probably why Tony just sat there by Punk's side during the scrum like an emasculated bitch. He failed to discipline Page, suspending him for going off script/shitting on Punk like that. So he was resigned to the notion that Punk HAD to get his payback, hence the incident where Punk effectively called Page a cowardly faggot to the world and standing next to Punk as he talked shit about the Elite.

All this could have been avoided if Tony had the balls to suspend Page after he lost the title to Punk for going off-script.

Or he could have cut Punk off during the scrum and brought up another subject. He let Punk run all over him and Punk took advantage of it.

Getting your receipt and moving on is an understood thing in wrestling. They may still be bitter but they don’t bring this shit up again after the score has been settled.
