But he did, in a smarmy, off-hand way. Go look at the promos again before either match. He was clearly there to piss on people even if he was a returning face but knew he had Mox in a corner in a way that Mox couldn't just slap the shit out of him because Mox is also a face interim champ. I think they argued backstage about the result of the unification. Mox wasn't gonna eat the pin first time because he was gonna look weak and Punk planned on rolling over everyone.

Phil was actually quite pleasant about Mox in the scrum. Saying how they're similar, have a lot in common and came from the same place and that he's a hell of a talent etc. Seems like Mox is one of the few guys in the business who Phil actually respects.
