My point is those words when you use them on a person is generally meant to be an insult (obviously not always things like sarcasm etc apply) but if you call someone a cunt or a faggot or a retard it's meant to hurt them. The intent is to negatively effect someone. Calling someone a fuck is just silly. Who does fuck offend and why does the word fuck offend them?

I get you. I think it's a cultural shift and this is a hangover. We think in terms of individuals or groups being insulted and slurred. Back in the day they thought about common decency, there didn't have to be a target for a word to be inappropriate.
