Evolution was really where I think the WWF hit the wall. It marked the start of a new "fuck what the fans want" era that continues to this very day. A completely dominant heel faction that only loses feuds with its own members is poison and they opened too many episodes of Raw with shitty Triple H promos. At least the nWo had entertaining segments and could be carried by the charisma of its better members, there was no redeeming quality at all with Evolution. The only gain for the entire thing was Batista and they buried so many people to get there that it is a net loss overall. Batista did not even really stick around for that long either. Orton is still around but he is not a draw and cannot be a real superstar babyface that can carry the whole company.
It was the "sometimes it sucks" of the Attitude Era except with no Rock or Austin to carry the thing.
