This got him really over as a babyface so he gets thrown together in a team with Rhyno in a tournament to crown the initial Smacdown tag team champions with the stipulation that this is Slater's last chance and if he wants a contract, then he and Rhyno have to win the tournament which they did. Throughout the tournament, they do taped vignettes and in-ring segments showing Heath and Rhyno and Heat's family.
It was based. They never actually broke up Heath and Rhyno to feud with each other either. They just got moved to Raw where Corbin forced them into a "loser is fired" match which Heath won, then Corbin lost his GM spot about a month later when Heath (who was forced to be his personal ref) turned on him, then Rhyno showed back up to help Heath. Now they're teaming together in Impact.
