Him and the bucks decided they are huge stars and they would elevate the roster by being competitive with them. In reality no one knew who they were besides a small, core group of viewers. And regardless, it's a new company so if you aren't above anyone at the start then you aren't above anyone at all. They came across no bigger or better than the Kip Sabians they were barely beating.
You don't understand the argument you replied to. The point is that Kenny could have shown up and just completely run over guys and looked like a star. He didn't. No one feels like a star in AEW. There are a couple of guys people want to be stars and they are heavily diminished by bad booking and being stuck with bad opponents, and losing to them (Darby, MJF, Ingobernables, Claudio, Wardlow, Hobbs and Starks, Swerve, Ass Boys, Moriarty).
No one feels special or important. No one is ever doing anything. There is no story arc, there is no reason to tune in to AEW ever besides when backstage shit gets leaked or muh wwe guy gets debuted.
